Slamdance 2021 has been announced! But there’s a big change this year.

Instead of taking place in Park City, Utah, the film festival will be held virtually due to the covid-19 pandemic.

On the bright side, Slamdance 2021 will still feature the usual amount of films: 25 features and 107 shorts, to be exact.

Slamdance 2021 Info

The upcoming Slamdance Film Festival will take place online from Feb. 12 to 25. You can stream all the films, as well as Q&As and panels, on, AppleTV, Roku, Firestick and YouTube.

The silver lining of virtual film festivals is that they’re more accessible to film fans around the globe – including those of us who couldn’t afford transportation and lodging in Park City. The film’s official site is calling the 2021 fest “our largest and most accessible festival yet.”

Slamdance in particular is an affordable film festival. Virtual festival passes are available for free through Dec. 31; from Jan. 1 to Feb. 25, you’ll have to shell out $10.

Slamdance 2021 Features

The virtual experience isn’t the only thing to get excited about with this coming year’s festival. Slamdance 2021 will also include a new program titled Unstoppable, a showcase for creators with disabilities.

Slamdance is also taking advantage of the resurgence of drive-ins in Southern California. In addition to the fest’s virtual experience, it will offer a two-night drive-in presentation in Joshua Tree open to the public on February 13th and 14th.

Slamdance’s closing night screening will also be held at a Los Angeles drive-in on February 25.
